Brown & Wilson Steels (BWS) is part of Steelstock UK, which is the largest group of steel service centres in Scotland and northern England, with 5 depots throughout the region.

BWS Carlisle was established in 2011 by Ian Barke and Rob Anderton, who were joined shortly afterwards by Chris Beesley; all had previously held senior positions within the steel stockholding industry. In establishing its base in Carlisle and increasing its delivery fleet, BWS was showing its long-term confidence in the industrial, manufacturing, processing, construction and agricultural sectors in south-west Scotland and north-west England.

BWS is backed by northern Britain’s largest stock of mild steel products. This stock, together with an impressive range of processing capabilities, means BWS has a deserved reputation for satisfying its customers’ total steel requirements. Whether customers need long products or flat products, BWS Carlisle can supply them all, and in a multitude of steel grades. If customers require the steel processed in any way - cut to length, drilled, guillotined, plasma-profiled, shotblasted and primed - this can be done with the minimum of fuss and within the group’s facilities. In addition, we specialise in sourcing and delivering one-off or unusual steel requirements, drawing on our years of trading relationships within the steel industry.
